Caffeinated Dreams

I should be treating myself and working on my computer, even though it’s already amazing. Went to Fry’s Electronics today to get a new soundcard for my brothers computer, and my mother got sidetracked (again) by the flatscreen monitors.

She has had her eye on them for a year now, but they were always so damn expensive. I’ve been giving her tips on what she needs to look at when buying them, and today she just happened to want one enough.

Some crappy photos of the new monitor I took while playing the new game Gunz. =) It’s a Samsung 19″, 700:1 Contrast Ratio, and an 8ms response time with a native resolution of 1280×1024. Games look fucking amazing in it. As does Photoshop and everything else. The price? ~$350 after rebate (~$50).

So yeah, I’m gonna steal it from my mom. If not, I’ll buy the same model once I get to Europe. Or hell, it’s so light maybe I can get away with buying one here and shipping it out. Who knows, who cares. I want one.

Now, Gunz is quite addictive. I can only get on their servers at this time (early morning, 2am - 5am) because the bulk of users (American and Korean) are not on. Only two servers, two freakin’ servers.

It being my first day, I think I did pretty well. Already at level 3, almost 4, and have nearly mastered one of the more difficult moves in the game. Which I’m quite proud of. My only problem right now is the mouse, since it’s old and kind of junky so it sticks sometimes. The controls feel like something Devil May Cry would be on the PC, as does the overall attack methods. Wishful thinking, but I want a Linux/Unix port of it. It might happen, or so I hear. Doubtful though, so I might stick with World of Warcraft if I can get into it.

WoW doesn’t cut it for me. Meh. No new games on consoles lately that strike interest so I’ve gone to the PC, which is not my gaming machine of choice. Oh well.

Yeah, going to steal that monitor. =)
